Earth Day
We all love Mother Earth. I love her so much that I named my daughter after her. My daughter’s name is Avnee, which means Earth. :)
Everyone is so busy these days that we hardly get to be out there in nature and appreciate Mother Earth. I miss pandemic in that sense. We were forced to spend time with our nuclear unit and with nature. At the time my daughter, Avnee, was barely three years old. We explored many trails together. Smelled wildflowers, tried catching butterflies and sang silly songs more than ever! We did many crafts with minimal things we found at home and around. This next DIY flower frame was one of them! Make it on this Earth’s day to celebrate, respect and appreciate Mother Earth and everything she offers.
DIY Flower Frame
You will need:
Wildflowers - as many as you can find
Leaves - in different shapes and sizes
2 same sized cardboards from a shipper box
Cling wrap
Scissors
Transparent tape
Pencil and ruler
Cardboard cutter
Take the cardboards and draw a “frame” of any size and thickness you want.
Cut the inside of the cardboard using the cutter to make one side of the frame. Ask an adult for help!
Repeat it with other cardboard. Make sure both the frames are the same size.
On the inside of each of the frames, stick cling wrap using a tape to ensure the cut open rectangle is covered. You will have two frames ready with cling wrap.
Now comes the fun creative part! Lay the flowers and leaves you want on one frame (on the side with the tape).
Put on the second frame, sandwiching the leaves and flowers.
Finally secure the sandwiched frame with a tape to stick both individual frames together.
Make a couple of holes on the frame/cardboard part and put a ribbon through if you wish to hang it in your room!
And do not forget to compost the flowers and recycle the frame after the flowers are dried! 🙂
Happy Earth Day! Here are pictures of our flower frames from 5 years ago!
